PARIS World Premiere

Above: Scenes from World Premiere of Paris - The Rock Opera

As a member of the technical staff at Laycock Street Theatre, Gosford, I have amassed a wide range of experience in production for live performance including Musicals (Amateur, Semi Pro & Professional), Plays, Conferences, Dancing and Live Music. Below are some highlights of my experience.

The return season of "Back To The Eighties" has recently finished. With 30 channels of radio mics this show kept us on our toes.

We had 15 Handheld mics and 15 Bodypacks for the cast.

FOH Consoles :     Soundcraft k3 Theatre with Midas Venice 320 sidecar.

FOH PA :    Martin Audio Wavefront W3 & WS2A powered by QSC PLX 2402 & 1602

Processing :     dbx Driverack 260 (FOH), dbx 166xl & 266xl comps, dbx 1231 & iEQ31 Graphic EQ (Foldback)

FX : TC Electronic M1XL Multi Effects & D2 Multi Tap Rhythm Delay, Yamaha Rev 500 Reverb.

Wireless Microphones :    Shure U, ULX and SC Bodypack & Handheld Transmitters,

DPA 4066 and Countryman E6 Headsets & Shure WL50 & WL93 custom headsets

Microphones :    Audix D6 (Kick), Audix D1 (Snare Bottom), Audix D3 (Guitar), Shure Beta 56A (Snare Top),  Shure Beta 57A(Percussion),

Shure Beta 98/SM98 (Toms & Hats), AKG C430 (Overheads).

My latest production with Working Light was the fun kids holiday show "A Friend For Frankenstein". A fairly straightforward show with CD backings, sound effects and 6 vocal radio mics.

FOH Console : Midas Venice 320

FOH PA : Martin Audio W3 and WS2A powered by QSC PLX 2402/1602

Wireless : Shure ULX bodypacks with Countryman E6, DPA 4066 and Shure Beta 53 headsets.

Processing : dbx driverack 260, dbx 166xl comps, Yamaha REV 500 reverb, Denon DN1800F & Sony MDS-E10 Mini Disc for music and SFX playback

I recently finished working on a new production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Laycock Street Theatre where I was performing the duties of Sound Design and FOH Engineer. It was an exciting show to be a part of as it was also the first production from a new company formed here on the Central Coast called Working Light Productions.

The show involved an intense sound design and mix every performance. I had 22 channels of band input and 19 vocal radio microphones plus sound effects to look after which always makes for interesting logistics as well as a busy night behind the console. I was utilizing a Midas Venice 320 to mix the band and band foldback duties while the vocals were mixed on the Soundcraft k3 Theatre house console at Laycock Street.

The FOH PA was Martin Audio Wavefront (W3 Mid Highs Flown & WS2A Subs on Floor) powered by QSC PLX 1602 and 2402's. dbx Driverack 260 was used for FOH processing with dbx comps and TC Electronic M1 FX and D2 delay. A dbx 120A Subharmonic Synth was used for extra bottom end on the low singing High Priest Caiaphas.

All cast were miced (except 2 of the ensemble) with a combination of Countryman E6 (Jesus, Judas and Mary), Shure Beta 53, Beta 54, WL50 and WL93 custom headsets. A Beta 87A handheld was also used for Simon & Herod's songs. Wireless Transmitters included Shure ULX, UC, U series and SC bodypacks.

Mics on the band (mostly percussion) included Shure Beta 52 (Kick), SM57 (Snare & Congas), SM98/Beta98 (Toms), AKG451 (Hats), AKG C430 (Overheads), Audio Technica AT33 (Percussion), Beta 57A (Guitar).
